Drag Arts with a Minor in Dance

I have decided tonight that I am pursuing a Drag Arts Major with a Minor in Dance. It suits me well right? It’s true…I’m a big old college drop out! So what!? Here’s a hint bitches…

My life goals: (age 6)

1. Keep Mom happy

2. Be good at everything

3. Be a famous singer

My Life Goals: (age 11)

1. Not be gay

2. Grow pubic hair

3. Be a famous singer

My Life Goals: (age 17)

1. Get into a good college

2. Be a world class dancer

3. Be a famous singer

4. Change people’s minds; show them that things aren’t always what they seem.

You’re beginning to see a trend, I suppose. Great! It’s clear, I have been on this path for a while. But here’s where it gets interesting.

Dallas was not my ideal city to be in for the last few years. When I see friends from high school, I tell them the only thing that Dallas did for me was turn me into a smoker… it’s a lie, but it makes my point. The truth is, as much as Dallas broke me down, I managed to rise up. People take a year off before high school… they do it to “grow up” a little, or to figure out what they’re passionate about. I was quite the opposite, however. I had to go to college first to realize what I had to offer. It was simple.

What I learned in college:

1. Martha Graham technique (ouch)

2. I am good at more things than usual

3. I get extremely bored… incredibly bored (especially in lecture halls)

4. Good friends are important, but best friends are much better.

5. Your family is generally worried… calling is easier than you think.

6. Never forget the things you’ve done that make you proud to be you. They will be very useful in every area of your life.

7. Your teachers may be better friends than your peers.

8. I am able to have good intentions. I can feel good about myself.

9. I can make things happen.

10. I can make GREAT things happen with the help of other GREAT PEOPLE!
